Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, Capital Markets in Africa — BRVM (The Regional Stock Exchange of eight West Africa) closed its trading session this Monday, lower than the previous day. BRVM 10 index decreased from 292.88 to 291.46 points, a drop of 0.48 percent. BRVM Composite index lost 0.47 percent to 292.58 against 293.97 points previously.
The equity market capitalization sagged by XOF 34 billion (about US$96 million) to close at XOF 7,220 billion relative to previous trading sessions’ market capitalization of XOF 7,254 billion.
The market activity measured by total volume was recorded at 60,489 traded stocks relative to 316,032 recorded at previous trading sessions. The total traded value was at XOF 697.533 million (against XOF 2,590.895 million recorded at previous trading session) exchanged in 29 traded securities via 192 deals. Today’s top stock by volume was Ecobank Transnational Incorporated TOGO with 32,280 traded securities (accounted for about 53.37 percent of the total volume). ONATEL BURKINA FASO recorded the highest total traded value of XOF 182.416 million contributing nearly 26.15 percent of total traded value. The Liquidity ratio (measured by Volume traded/ Ask orders volume) ended at 9.26 percent and Price Earnings Ratio was recorded at 21.83.
Out of the 29 traded securities today, 6 stocks experienced price gains, 15 witnessed price drops and 8 stocks price remained unchanged relative to previous closing price. SICOR COTE D’IVOIRE emerged as the top price gainer after adding 7.14 percent to end at XOF 9,000. BANK OF AFRICA COTE D’IVOIRE soared by 5.59 percent at XOF 131,985 and TOTAL SENEGAL closed at XOF 25,900 after gaining 1.57 percent. BANK OF AFRICA BENIN share price advanced by 0.42 percent to close at XOF 125,000 and FILTISAC COTE D’IVOIRE with a closing price of XOF 26,060 after surging by 0.04 percent.
On the other hand, TRACTAFRIC MOTORS COTE D’IVOIRE sagged by 4.87 percent to settle at XOF 266,100 as the biggest loser and BERNABE COTE D’IVOIRE plunged by 4.01 percent to trade at XOF 120,000. SODE COTE D’IVOIRE declined by 2.43 percent to close at XOF 80,000 and BANK OF AFRICA NIGER declined by 2.31 percent to trade at XOF 84,101. UNILEVER COTE D’IVOIRE settled at XOF 25,500 after crashed by 1.92 percent.
From the sector indices viewpoints, the industry sector index declined by 0.23 percent at 162.66 points and public utilities sector index sagged by 0.32 percent to end at 799.85 points. The distribution sector index plunged by 0.66 percent to end at 536.85 points and financial services sector index plummeted by 0.83 percent to end at 107.47 points. Agriculture sector index marginally went down by 0.07 percent to trade at 191.64 points. Transportation sector index remained constant to settle at 949.08 points and miscellaneous sector index remained flat at 555.56 points.
